Creative Discovery Museum's "Amuse"Um Is March 6

Theme Is Where The Wild Things Play

Monday, February 08, 2010

The Creative Discovery Museum is preparing a wild rumpus at their annual fundraiser, “Amuse”Um, the party for adults that benefits kids. The Where the Wild Things Play party starts at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 6. Dress is casual, wolf suit optional.

Chattem is the lead sponsor of “Amuse”Um 2010. The event is also presented in part by Chattanooga Coca-Cola Bottling Co., Baker Donelson Bearman Caldwell and Berkowitz, Big River Grille, Carrabba’s, Miller & Martin, EPB Telecom, Hilton Garden Inn, and AT&T Advertising Solutions.

"We are wildly excited about this year's event. Things are coming together for one of “Amuse”Um's biggest parties ever," said Susan DiStefano. Ms. DiStefano and her husband David are co-chairing the “Amuse”Um event.

Some of the “things” that the crew of volunteers are planning include activities throughout the museum.

Chattanooga’s aerial ballet troupe, Grounded High, will add ambiance to the evening and can be seen hanging around in unexpected places. The Cosmetic Market will be on hand to help guests express their inner wild-child with a “Wild Eye” or “Luscious Lips” makeover.

Attendees will have the opportunity to buy a ticket to take a walk on the wild side at the Wild Rumpus Wine Walk hosted by the Museum’s Tower Club. Participants in the Wine Walk will not only get the opportunity to play the game and win palette-pleasing prizes, but will also sample select wines compliments of Brian Leutwiler.

"Amuse’Um is the model fundraiser for charities across our area, fun, exciting, different every year, but always a joyous occasion where people support an integral part of our community,” said Monique Berke, board chair of the Museum. “Participants know that the dollars raised keep Creative Discovery Museum open to everyone throughout the year, giving children the opportunity to experience fun exhibits and educational programming that inspires life-long learning."

Guests of “Amuse”Um 2010 can further support the Museum by bidding at the event’s silent and live auctions. A few items include a luxurious four day/three night stay in Gulf Shores, date night at the movies for an entire year from Downtown’s Majestic 12 Theater, a round of golf at the us Honors course, a VIP package to Riverbend with side stage passes, custom designed jewelry and attire, an evening at Lindsay Street Hall for a corporate or private gathering, and a “sail away through the night” trip down the Tennessee River from Erwin Marine - plus much more.

Tone Harm will help heat up the dance floor with a Rowdy Rumpus dance party in the Atrium and delicacies will be prepared by Lee Towery.

The Museum’s Rooftop will offer a get-away from all the ruckus, and guests can relax under the Rooftop Tent while enjoying an untamable toe-tapping performance from Gerle Haggard.

“Amuse”Um guests will get a chance to be part of the action in the Museum’s newest featured exhibit: Good For You: Healthy Fun on the Run, where attendees can flash a mischievous grin for a souvenir photograph. Plus, Jerome Savis, Bluff View Art District’s Chocolatier, will give guests a peak at his confectionary mastery in the Culinary Corner, and guests can devour delights in the Decadent Dessert Lounge.

Three reservation levels are available:
· For $85, Mischief Makers receive access to food, drinks, and fun and $5 in Auction Bucks.

· For $135, Rumpus Rousers receive all benefits of the Mischief Makers plus express check-in, $25 in Auction Bucks, and one admittance to the Wild Rumpus Wine Walk.

· For $250, the King of All Wild Things will receive all the benefits of the Rumpus Rousers plus parking in the Museum’s staff lot adjacent to the building and an additional $50 in Auction Bucks.

Thoughts On The Mathews Sentencing

It is not by coincidence I haven’t submitted an opinion piece in some time to the Chattanoogan.  The topics I cover are generally vitriolic in regards to local political decisions and their makers regarding public safety and I do not wish to associate my name with more noble subjects such as that of the heroic death and cowardly murder of Chattanooga Police Sergeant Tim Chapin, ... A Good School Takes Involvement - And Response

As I have read the articles concerning Normal Park School I can’t keep from thinking when our children started to school in the 1960‘s. The two elementary schools in the city that were considered tops were Barger and Woodmore. We did not live in the zone for either school so we looked for a house to buy that was zoned for Woodmore.   We found ... (click for more)
