The Erlanger schedule of classes and events for Feb. 15-20 includes a variety of HealthLink Plus fitness opportunities, family planning classes and balance and vascular health screenings. Events are free and registration is required unless otherwise noted. Call Erlanger HealthLink at 423 778-LINK (5465), Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. HealthLink Plus is a free membership program open to adults 18 and older.

Monday, Feb. 15
Low Impact Exercise
8:30 – 9:30 a.m.
Northgate Mall
Join us for a free, low-impact exercise class led by an exercise physiologist from the Fitness Center at Siskin Hospital. No registration is necessary. Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at 423 778-LINK (5465) for information.

Bariatric Support Group
5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Chattanooga Lifestyle Center
Bariatric Support Group meetings are for individuals scheduled to have Bariatric surgery or who have already had weight loss surgery. Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at 423 778-LINK (5465) for more information.

Diabetes Education Class
1:30 – 4:30 p.m.
Chattanooga Lifestyle Center
This class, which takes place on Mondays and Thursdays, will explore ways to manage diabetes. Call 778-9400 for more information on physician referral and insurance reimbursement.

Childbirth Education
5:30-9:30 p.m.
Erlanger East (Gunbarrel Road)
This childbirth education class/series is designed for expectant parents and taught by experienced OB nurses. These classes include stages of labor, relaxation and labor support techniques, hospital procedures, pain management options, after birth and home care for moms and in-hospital care for newborns. Breastfeeding
6:30 – 9:00 p.m.
Erlanger Baroness (Downtown)
This class is designed to help participants make an informed choice about breastfeeding. Learn breastfeeding basics, what to expect the first few weeks and special tips for success. Concerns about returning to work/school will also be discussed. This course is coordinated by a board-certified lactation consultant. Registration fee is $30. Tuesday, February 16
Vascular Clinic
8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Erlanger North Campus Annex, Suite 200
The Vascular Clinic screening for peripheral vascular disease, which includes a history and physical, assessment of pulses, and includes the ABI (Ankle-Brachial Index) screening. Registration is required. Appointments are limited. Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at (423) 778-LINK (5465) to register.

Adaptive Tai Ji (Tai Chi)
10:00 - 11:00 a.m.
The Fitness Center at Siskin Hospital
Tai-Ji (Tai Chi) is a great form of exercise, especially for those with osteoarthritis. It can help you build leg muscles, strengthen posture, and improve balance, flexibility, and mobility. Water Aerobics Class

Aquatic exercise also allows you to work out without the jarring and jolting that can be experienced during land exercising. No registration is necessary. Balance Screening
8:30 - 10:00 a.m.
Erlanger East (Gunbarrel Road)
A free screening presented by Erlanger and Siskin Hospital for Rehabilitation to evaluate balance and stability and to determine if further testing or treatment is necessary. An excellent screening for seniors whose balance problems may be affecting their mobility and independence. Registration is required. Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at 423 778-LINK (5465) to register.

Core Training Class
10:00 - 11:00 a.m.
The Fitness Center at Siskin Hospital
The body's core muscles, lying deep within the torso, are the foundation for all movement. They stabilize the spine and provide a solid foundation for movement in the extremities. This free class will introduce several exercises that are the building blocks for core muscle strength and coordination. Training the muscles of the core corrects postural imbalances that can lead to injuries and help develop functional fitness - that is, fitness that is essential to both daily living and regular activities. This one-hour class teaches basic CPR for an infant (birth to one year of age). Class time includes infant safety instructions and hands-on practice of CPR and choking management techniques for an infant. This session is for first time dads who want to learn more about the upcoming new addition in their family. Topics include diapering, feeding, why babies cry and how to handle it, how you can help the new mom, learn about postpartum depression and general hands-on infant care. NICU Nursing Conference Donates $9,000 To March Of Dimes

Mother Of Man Charged With Killing Sgt. Chapin Given Prison Sentence Of 30 Years, 6 Months

The mother of the man charged with killing Chattanooga Police Sgt.
