Michael Wayne Usher Sr., 55, died on February 4, 2010 in a local hospital.
He was a graduate of Brainerd High School, class of 1972, and Chattanooga State. He was a member of Thankful Baptist Church and served as private in the U.S. Army.
He was formerly employed with 1st Tennessee Bank, TVA, and the local post office. He was a dedicated employee of Memorial Hospital as a clinical engineer until the time of his death.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jean Usher.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bernice F. Usher; sons, Michael Usher II, Martrell (Nakita) Usher, and Marcus Hayes; daughter, Lakeydra Usher Teague; ten loving grandchildren, all of Chattanooga; father, William Usher Sr.; sisters, Lillian (Edward) U. Jones, Karen (Donnie) U. Phillips; brother, William Usher; two stepsisters, Theresa (Roscoe) Tucker, Toni (Reginald) White (South Carolina), a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 10, at Thankful Baptist Church with Elder Terrance Wright officiating.
The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 12-6 p.m. on Tuesday at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995.
