Bi-Lo Named LaFayette's Downtown Business Of The Month For February

Monday, February 08, 2010

Bi-Lo Store No. 352 was named February Downtown Business of the Month because of its record of good corporate citizenship, according to the LaFayette Downtown Development Authority’s Promotions Committee. The store has donated food and ice to numerous civic groups, including events supporting the city’s downtown revitalization efforts.

“The Care Mission comes to the store and gets close-dated deli bread and sweet goods daily,” LaFayette store director Greg Defore said, adding that in every community where Bi-Lo has a store, the company assists local charities.

The LaFayette store, which has been in its current building in LaFayette Plaza since 1996, has produce, deli/bakery and meat departments.

“Customers can call or come by and get any special cut of meat,” Mr. Defore said. “Bi-Lo is happy to do any special order. Just call the store in advance on all special orders.”

Mr. Defore said store employees, whom he describes as “teammates,” strive to make every customer feel welcome and invited to come back.

“At Bi-Lo, we work to deliver real savings and real fresh goods along with a dedication to our customers, and the communities we live, work and play in that extends beyond expected promotional pricing,” Michael Byars, Bi-Lo’s president and chief executive officer, said in a prepared statement.

The statement explains Bi-Lo has several programs to help customers save money, including the Bonuscard program, which provides Bi-Lo Bonuscard deals, Price Lock, Super BOGO’s, $4 generic prescription program with no enrollment fee, double manufacturers’ coupons, Senior Bonus day, BiLo.com, Meal Deals, Southern Home, Clear Value and Top Care private label products.

According to the statement, the company, headquartered in Mauldin, S.C., operates 207 supermarkets in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee and employs about 15,100 people.

Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt. Chapin would have wanted.  He was a protector and sacrificed his life so the rest of ... (click for more)
