Edwina Autry Morrison, 80 of Dalton, died on Monday Feb. 8, 2010 at her residence.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles & Gertrude Autry; sisters, Beatrice Box and Claudell Autry; twin brother, Edward “Bud” Autry; and son, Dale Morrison.
At the age of 12, Mrs. Morrison began singing with her cousin, Fred Bryant, and they were invited to sing at many church socials and on WBLJ radio. She continued her love of singing in the choir at Grove Level Baptist Church where she was an active member for over forty years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Kinzel “Ken” Morrison of the residence; daughter and son-in-law, Donna & Tom Hilley of Dalton; sister, Willie Mae Hackney of Dalton; grandchildren, Sonja & Clint Russell of Tunnel Hill, Matthew Hilley of Pensacola, Fla. and Alissa & Brent Hudson of Dalton; and great-grandchildren, Olivia and Tyson Russell of Tunnel Hill and Mia Hilley of Athens, Ga.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Morrison will be held Wednesday, Feb. 10, at 4 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Dr. Charlie Bridges and Rev. David Hendrix officiating. Burial will be in United Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, Feb. 9 from 5-8 p.m.
