Hayes “Mutt” Garland, 93, of Chattanooga, died on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 in a local health care facility.

He was retired from T.V.A. following 35 years of service and had worked at Combustion Engineering for several years. Mr. Garland was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Union #453.

He was a faithful member of Highland Park Baptist Church and most recently attended Bethel Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James H. and Martha Ann Cansada Garland, his wife of 50 years, Gertrude Steele Garland, brothers, Lewis and Charles E. Garland, and sisters, Lucy Ann Garland Westbrooks, Laura Garland, Geneva “Neva” Garland, and Ella Gene Garland.

Survivors include his daughters, Lynda G. (Charles) Condra, Pamela J. (Jonathan) Branyon; sons, Kenneth L. (Hazel) Garland Sr., and Barry Wayne Garland; grandchildren, Michelle (Robert) Garland French, Kenneth L. (Karen) Garland II, Renee’ (Toney) Ritchie, Charissa (Joel) Garland Waller, Jennifer (Bobby) Condra Hughes, Jonathan D. Branyon II, Christina L. Branyon, Lance A. (Shelby) Branyon, Susan R. (Clifford) Skiles; great-grandchildren, Candice M. Silvers, Anthony E. French, Kris L. Garland, Kayla Garland, Christopher L. Ritchie, Brandon K. Ritchie, Michael D. Ritchie, Baylee M. Waller, Jonathan D. “Trey” Branyon III, J. Cade Waller, Kayla M Hughes, Nicholas T. Hughes, and Natalie G. Hughes; several nieces and nephews, and former wife, Juanita Felton Garland.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb.12, at 2 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Rev. Tommy Messer and Rev. Kenneth L. Garland II officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the International Board of Jewish Missions, 1929 Hamill Road, Hixson, Tn. 37343.

Eleanor Ritchey, 86, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, died on Monday, February 13, 2012, at her residence. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Gertrude Anderson, brother, Linn Anderson, one grandchild and two great grandchildren. Waldo Oran Kinser, 58, of Chatsworth, Ga., died Sunday, February 12, 2012 at his residence. Waldo was born May 12, 1953 in Ellijay, Ga., a son of the late Wilbur Oran and Texxie Dotson Kinser; and was also preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Kinser; and sister, Debbie Kinser. Man Tells Police He Just Murdered His Wife
