The CSAS girls basketball team will travel to the TSSAA state tournament in Murfreesboro Wednesday morning for the first time in school history. The Lady Patriots earned the trip with a convincing sectional win on Saturday against Red Boiling Springs.
The Lady Patriots lost their sectional bids the last two years. Last year CSAS lost to Pickett County by three points.
CSAS has been building for this moment after winning three consecutive region championships.
CSAS drew Scotts Hill in the first round of the Class A state tournament in Murfreesboro. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. EST
Polk County and McMinn Central both qualified for the Class AA tournament. Polk County will also play on Wednesday facing off with South Greene at 6:30 p.m. EST.
McMinn Central will not play until Thursday when it faces off with Greeneville at 11:30 a.m.
Walker Valley is the only area team from Class AAA. It will play Morristown West on Thursday at 5 p.m.
Semifinal games for all three classes will be played on Friday with the championship games set for Saturday at 3, 5 and 7 p.m. EST.
