MT. BERRY, Ga. – The Lee University men's tennis team now has a winning streak against Berry College.
After dropping 21 of the first 25 matches between the two schools in the all-time series, the Flames (4-2) have now won back-to-back matches over the Vikings (0-3) for the first time in program history, taking Tuesday's match 8-1.
The day started with Berry taking the match between the teams' top doubles pairs, but it was all Flames after that. The doubles tandem of Renan Molineiro and Fabio Medina narrowly defeated Jonathan Surls and Elliot Echols, and none of the remaining seven matches was close. Marcelo Peterlini was disqualified in his singles match against Michael Yokosuk, who ran his singles record to 4-1 on the season. The match was the third for the Flames in the last five days, and Lee will wrap up a stretch of four matches in seven days on Thursday afternoon. The Flames will play host to Southern States Athletic Conference foe and 22nd ranked Shorter College (6-2, 1-1) at 2 p.m.
