Stella Freeman Cunningham, 64, of Pikeville, died on Monday March 8, 2010, surrounded by family.

She fought a courageous battle for the past 8 years. Stella was born April 27, 1945 in Pikeville, Tn. to the late W. Leland and Ruby Hancock Freeman. She was of the Methodist Faith. Some of Stella's fondest memories were coaching girls softball, leading the Girl Scouts and the Rebound Club. She was an avid reader and loved a good book, she was a member of ABWA and insurance Women of America. Stella earned her CIC designation as an insurance professional and worked many years in the insurance industry. She opened her home to many over the years and gave unselfishly to all the children she was surrounded with.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Della White and Barbara Ann Freeman; and brothers, George and Ernest Freeman.

She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Leonard (LD) Cunningham; son, Tim Cunningham; daughters, Stacey (David) Ryder and Tina Bolen Perry; her grandchildren, Timothy, Autumn and Hunter Cunningham, Callie, Caitie and Cami Ryder and Whittney Rose; great-grandchild, Lexie Rose; her sisters, Betty L. Brown, Wilma Bolen and Rebecca Carol Angel; brother, William (Bill) Freeman; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Thursday March 11, at 11 a.m. CST in the funeral home chapel with Minister Bud Schermerhorn officiating. Burial will follow in the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Pikeville.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday March 10, from 4-8 p.m. CST.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Sequatchie County Cancer Support Network.

Man Tells Police He Just Murdered His Wife
