UTC junior Emma de Groot was named Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week Wednesday by the league office. It is the second straight week that de Groot has earned the honor.
The native of Coffs Harbour, Australia finished second at the JMU/Eagle Landing Invitational this week. She carded a 54-hole total of 217, one-over par, which is a season best total with rounds of 74, 70 and 73 finishing three strokes behind Illinois’ Hailey Koschmann.
de Groot recorded six birdies and an eagle for three days along with 40 pars. She scored par or better on 87 percent of her holes played.
She is nationally ranked in both collegiate rankings. She is No. 43 on Golfstat, while coming in at No.
61 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Ratings Index.
The Mocs return to play Monday, March 22, at the John/Kirk Panther Intercollegiate in Atlanta.
