Nearly 400 mental health advocates, consumers and professionals recently gathered at Legislative Plaza to participate in Mental Illness and Substance Abuse Recovery Advocacy Day.
During the event, the audience heard from several of the 2010 gubernatorial candidates, including Bill Gibbons, Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey, Representative Zach Wamp, and a representative of Bill Haslam. Advocates then met with their legislators in the afternoon.
The Tennessee Coalition is a group of advocates, providers, family members and consumers working to develop the best behavioral health care system possible.
The coalition receives funding from its member agencies, private donors and pharmaceutical companies, including AstraZeneca, Lilly USA and Pfizer.
