The Chattanooga Mocs athletics department recently distributed prizes to three local middle schools for their participation in the Mocs Basketball Middle School Night at McKenzie Arena. Among the prizes awarded to the different schools were Staples Gift Cards and a new computer.
Prizes were awarded based on the percentage of students from area middle schools who attended the Lady Mocs’ Jan. 30 women’s basketball game against Southern Conference rival Elon.
Earlier in the year, the UTC Athletics Department distributed vouchers for free admission to the Elon game to all Hamilton County Department of Education Middle Schools. The vouchers were good for one ticket for all students enrolled in 6th-8th grades.
Normal Park Middle School received a new computer for having the highest percentage of its students at the Mocs’ 83-64 win over Elon. Last year’s winner, Dalewood Middle School, finished in second place and won a $250 Staples Gift Card. Red Bank Middle School came in third place and received a $100 Staples Gift Card.
All prizes awarded from the 2010 Mocs Basketball Middle School Night were donated by the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Department of Athletics.
