Representative Eric Watson, on behalf of the State of Tennessee, will honor the late Franklin Hyberger at the Oak Grove School in Cleveland on Friday. The ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. and the Oak Grove School show choir will take part in the ceremony as well as the student body.
Here is the resolution that Representative Watson passed in Honor of Franklin Hyberger in the Tennessee General Assembly recently.
HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 756
A resolution to honor the memory of Franklin G. Hyberger of Cleveland.
WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly were greatly saddened to learn of the passing of Franklin G. Hyberger, the beloved minister of Patty Church of Christ; and
WHEREAS, Franklin G. Hyberger, a lifelong resident of Bradley County, was an exemplary public servant and consummate professional who worked assiduously to improve the quality of life for his fellow citizens in numerous capacities; and
WHEREAS, a member of the Greatest Generation, Mr. Hyberger nobly served the United States, rendering sterling service in the United States Navy during World War II; and
WHEREAS, Franklin G. Hyberger was employed by the Cleveland Daily Banner until the 1950s, when he listened to his entrepreneurial spirit and founded and successfully operated the Star Printing Company, serving ably at its helm until his death; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Hyberger served with wisdom and compassion for 68 years as a minister in the Church of Christ, including 21 years at the Patty Church of Christ, in which positions he earned the love and admiration of his congregations for breathing new life into the Gospel; and
WHEREAS, in addition to giving so much of his life in his Lord's service, Mr. Hyberger was a dedicated civic leader who distinguished himself as a public-spirited citizen of the highest order through his involvement with numerous organizations, including the Oak Grove Ruritan Club, Bradley Band Boosters Club, and Cleveland Community Concert Association, and, in his younger years, Mr. Hyberger lent his considerable talents to the Young Republicans Club and the Cleveland Jaycees; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Hyberger was also deeply devoted to his family, and he always endeavored to remain true to family values of the highest order; and
WHEREAS, Franklin G. Hyberger was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Glenn and Bonnie Phillips Hyberger, and his brother, Reginald Hyberger; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Hyberger is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, D. Lynn Hyberger; his daughters and son-in-law, Leslie Hyberger, Valerie Williams, Allison and Joe Chancy, and Melissa Hyberger; his grandchildren and their spouses, Meridith and Jeremy Dean, Matthew and Heidi McKeown, Chad and April Cameron, Brian and Adrienne Chancey, Toby Williams, Chris Chancey, and Bonnie Phillips; his six great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Corrine Hyberger; and his nephews, Corey and Andrew Hyberger; and
WHEREAS, Franklin G. Hyberger leaves behind an indelible legacy of integrity and probity in public life, compassion and loyalty in private life, and diligence and dedication in all his chosen endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Hyberger was truly a man of God and a pillar upon which his
congregation and the greater Bradley County community relied; the effects of his unparalleled life will be felt for generations to come; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting that this General Assembly should pause to remember the bountiful life of this exceptional minister, public servant, and human being; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE CONCURRING, that we honor the memory of Franklin G. Hyberger, reflecting fondly upon his impeccable character and his stalwart commitment to living the examined life with courage and conviction.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we express our sympathy and offer our condolences to the family of Mr. Hyberger.
