Additional charges were filed Friday for two juveniles who were charged in the killing of a Dalmatian in January.
Juvenile petitions were filed against the youths after they admitted to burglarizing a residence on Mt. Zion Road on Feb. 6. During the burglary a DVD player and four knives were taken and a dog was shot. The dog is currently receiving treatment at a local veterinarian.
Additional charges of burglary and animal cruelty were submitted to the Juvenile Court.
The 15-year-old suspects will be held in the Juvenile Detention Center until their next hearing next Thursday.
They earlier were charged with the intentional killing of a Dalmatian and the burglary of a residence on Mt. Zion Road.
Investigation by the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office revealed the dog was confined with a cable on the owner’s property. The two juveniles allegedly attached two cinder blocks to the cable, wrapped the cable around the dog and threw it into a small pond on Jan. 21.
The youths reportedly entered a residence at the same location on March 6 and stole a 22-caliber rifle and a laptop computer. Three other guns were used to vandalize vehicles on the property.
The teens are charged with aggravated burglary, theft over $1,000, vandalism over $1,000, aggravated cruelty to animals, and the intentional killing of an animal in the dalmatian case.
One of the suspects is from Bradley County and the other is from Ooltewah.
Detectives are continuing the investigation. The rifle and computer have been recovered.
