65 Roses 5K To Happen In Downtown Cleveland

The eighth annual 65 Roses 5K is March 27 in Downtown Cleveland at Lee University. The 5K run along with a 1K Fun Run and 5K walk, are part of the Great Strides weekend of events raising money for cystic fibrosis research.

The USATF certified course (TN 06041 DJR) starts and ends at Lee University while meandering through Mainstreet Cleveland and the Cleveland Historic District. The first 500 entrants will receive a performance T-shirt. There will be water on the course and lots of fruit, bagels, juices, and drinks at the staging area.

Early registration is $20 for the race and $12 for the Fun Run; registration the day of the race will be $25 and $15 for the Fun Run. Chattanooga Track Club (CTC) members get a $3 discount.

Cystic fibrosis is a complex genetic disease which damages and eventually destroys the lungs of patients. About 30,000 children and young adults in the United States have been diagnosed with the disorder.

Lane Closures On MLK Boulevard Announced For Wednesday

The lanes in the 600 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard between University Street and Peeples Street will be closed periodically on Wednesday, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Detours will be posted.  (click for more)

Man Tells Police He Just Murdered His Wife

A Chattanooga man told police Monday night that he had just murdered his wife.  Police said Robert Lee Hardnett, 50. showed up at the County Jail to turn himself in at 8:40 p.m. He said his wife's body could be found at his place of employment, Power Supply Company, 1907 Daisy St.   Officers responded to that address and found the body of 34-year-old Elizabeth ... Red Bank Commissioners Choose Kenneth Welch To Replace Greg Jones; Jeno Won't Run Again

The four remaining members of the Red Bank Commission held a special called meeting on Tuesday and chose Kenneth Welch as the replacement for Vice Mayor Greg Jones, who moved to Alaska.
