Brown, Dallas "Dal" Berry (Jasper)

Dallas Berry “Dall” Brown, 88, of Jasper, Tennessee, died on Thursday, March 11, 2010 in a local hospital.

He was a lifelong member of McKendree United Methodist Church where he served as a teacher for many years and past superintendent of Sunday Schools. He served on various local committees including the Marion County Planning Commission and the Jasper Water Board.

Mr. Brown was a former graduate, teacher and athletic coach at Marion County High School and former principal of Jasper Elementary School.

He was a graduate of Tennessee Technological University where he played football and baseball and received a degree in accounting in 1943. He later did post-graduate work at Peabody College in Nashville. Mr. Brown served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was stationed at Pearl Harbor.

He owned and operated Brown Hardware Co. in Jasper for many years and was also a member of Olive Branch Lodge #297 F&AM and the York Rite Bodies.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents, N.H. and Veda Berry Brown, sister, Harold Brown Price and brothers, Holland Brown and Kenneth P. Brown.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Flowers Brown; son and daughter-in-law, Rusty and Anne Brown of Jasper; son, Jeff Brown of Chattanooga; sisters, Lila Cureton of Jasper, Suzy Raulston of Nashville, and Carolyn Thompson of Jasper; grandchildren, Andy Brown and Holly Brown; great-granddaughter, Dixie Elizabeth Brown and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends for visitation at McKendree United Methodist Church, 106 Highway 150 in Jasper, Tn., from 10 a.m. until service time on Monday, March 15.

Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation on Monday at 1 p.m. CDT at McKendree United Methodist Church with Reverend Ron Ramsey officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Jasper.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to McKendree United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 167, Jasper, Tn. 37347.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Rogers Funeral Home in Jasper.

Man Tells Police He Just Murdered His Wife
