GPS Terpsichord’s Spring Concert 2010, “Imaginarium,” will be presented Friday and Saturday in the GPS Frierson Theatre at 8 p.m. both nights. Admission is free.
The annual concert, a time for many former members of the contemporary dance company to return to their alma mater, will feature dances focused on youthful memories of becoming an astronaut, playing a board game or with a doll house, or just keeping secrets.
As is customary, the sophomores, juniors, and senior members will present class dances, and the president of Terpsichord will dance a solo number. Original student choreography will be presented along with choreography by Fine Arts Chair and Terpsichord Director Cathie Kasch and Margi Cole, artistic director and founder of The Dance COLEctive.
Music for the performances ranges from the Beastie Boys and Michael W. Smith to the Ahn Trio.
The president of Terpsichord is Alyssa Matulich, and the vice president is Greyson McLaughlin.
This year’s company of dancers includes seniors Kelli Matulich, MerylAnne Dexter, Catherine Hitchings, Jillian Misner, Emily Wade, and Carolyn Pearigen; juniors, Nisha Boyington, Sarah Evatt, Sarah Douglas McCall, Laynie Perrin, Emily Rice, Audrey Kealy, Eller Mallchok, Mary Catherine Weathers, Laura Higbee, and Natalie Wilkinson; and sophomores Sarah Whitney Anderson, Katherine Johnson, Mary Halley Magee, Lauren Glenn, Annie Paden, Madison Sherman, Meghan Powers, Lizzie Sanford, Rachel Kelly, Parker Mallchok and Katie Greer.
