Pat Boone Bethal Celebrity Spectacular Set For May 13-15

Pat Boone and his wife Shirley are coming to Chattanooga to host a "spectacular weekend" to benefit the children of Bethel Bible Village. A number of events are scheduled to take place during the 38th Annual Pat Boone-Bethel Celebrity Spectacular May 13-15.

The first of four events is a limited-seating luncheon on Thursday, May 13, at Chattanooga Golf and Country Club. The featured speaker is Mrs. Boone. She will talk about her experience of living a Christian life in Hollywood.

The public is invited to attend “Bid for the Kids” live auction Thursday, May 13, at 7 p.m. in Bethel’s Activity Building at 3001 Hamill Road in Hixson. Mr. and Mrs. Boone will be there along with auction emcees Cindy Sexton and Bill Markham of WRCB Channel 3. Featured items include trips, getaways, jewelry, artwork, electronics and more. Admission is free.

“Bid for the Kids” online auction is set to run May 13-20. Items can be previewed at www.bbv.org and clicking on the link. Bid on vacations, gift certificates, sports memorabilia, home décor, art and more.

Two days of tournament golf is scheduled at Bear Trace Golf Course for Friday and Saturday, May 14 and 15. Entry fees are $300 for individuals and $1,200 for foursome teams if paid by April 30. Fees increase to $350 (individuals) and $1,400 (teams) after April 30. Tee times are 8 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. both days. Open to men and ladies of any skill level. Flight prizes and skills contest prizes are awarded.

Man Tells Police He Just Murdered His Wife

A Chattanooga man told police Monday night that he had just murdered his wife.  Police said Robert Lee Hardnett, 50. showed up at the County Jail to turn himself in at 8:40 p.m. He said his wife's body could be found at his place of employment, Power Supply Company, 1907 Daisy St.   Officers responded to that address and found the body of 34-year-old Elizabeth ... Red Bank Commissioners Choose Kenneth Welch To Replace Greg Jones; Jeno Won't Run Again

The four remaining members of the Red Bank Commission held a special called meeting on Tuesday and chose Kenneth Welch as the replacement for Vice Mayor Greg Jones, who moved to Alaska.
