The city of Chattanooga has subpoenaed a Chattanooga Billiards Club waitress to testify in a suit against the beer board about alleged after-hours drinking at the club that allegedly led to the death of Unum employee Susan Wood.
The city is asking that Jessica Hunt appear for a hearing in Chancery Court on June 8 at 9:30 a.m.
The Chattanooga Billiards Club filed suit against the beer board, over a three-day suspension of its beer license related to the alleged drinking by employees after the club closed at 3 a.m.
Authorities say Jeremy Lane was among CBC employees drinking in the early morning hours and he drove his car down Fourth Street and struck Mrs. Wood as she was on her way to work.
Lane is facing vehicular homicide charges.
Ms. Wood, the mother of two young children, died a few hours later in the incident two days before Christmas.
Ms. Hunt testified at a hearing in General Sessions Court that she was a server at the Chattanooga Billiard Club on Cherry Street and Lane was a cook. She said they closed at 3 a.m. on Dec. 23, but she, Lane and others stayed around until around 7 a.m. She said she was drinking during that time, but she does not know if Lane was.
Ms. Hunt was fired by the club after the incident.
