Shirley Jean Nelson, 63, of Summerville, Ga., died on Saturday, March 13, 2010, at her residence.

Mrs. Nelson was born Sept. 28, 1946, in Summerville, the daughter of the late Albert "Tub" and Vinnie Lucille Green Dover. She was a member of the Trion Church of God of Prophecy, a selfless and loving mother and wife, raising two wonderful children and a grandbaby.

She was preceded in death by a brother, David Dover.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Larry Nelson; son & daughter-in-law, Adam Carl and Angela Nelson, Lafayette; daughter, Candace Gail Nelson, Summerville; adopted son, David Schmitt; brothers & sister-in-law, Marvin Dover, Thomas & Nell Dover and Roy Dover, all of Summerville; sisters & brother-in-law, Brenda Gail Wilson, Summerville and Peggy Janice & Clint Boss, Swainsboro, Ga.; grandson, Avery Adam Nelson; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 15, from the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Bishop Phillip Minter officiating with interment in the West Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Adam Nelson, Todd Browning, Bubba Browning, David Schmitt, Jamie Henderson and Jonathan Turner. Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Shepard and Ricky Dover.

Mrs. Nelson will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home Chapel and the family will receive friends on Sunday March 14,from 6-8 p.m.

Man Tells Police He Just Murdered His Wife
