A Blount County man with a lengthy criminal record who is charged in a Red Bank home invasion had charges bound to the Grand Jury on Monday afternoon.
Steve Hannah appeared before Red Bank Judge Johnny Houston.
The charges against three women also allegedly involved in the plot were delayed until April 12. Attorneys will be appointed for the women, including Mona Ray, who police say formerly lived with the victim and told the other three of items she kept in her Red Bank home.
Also charged are Misty Wilson and Brandie Brandon, both of Maryville.
All the defendants are charged with
especially aggravated robbery, especially aggravated burglary, especially aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault and criminal conspiracy.
Sgt. Dan Knight said Ms. Ray at one time lived at the Knollwood Drive address with victim Jewel Berg.
Hannah is also charged with burglarizing a home in Red Bank on Goodson Avenue.
Sgt. Knight said Hannah initially went to Ms. Berg's home posing as a census worker to scope it out.
He said Hannah along with the two women returned to the residence, but wound up burglarizing the Goodson Avenue house instead.
They returned the next morning to Knollwood Drive to find Ms. Berg cleaning out her garage with her boyfriend, Ahwazi Bijan. They pulled up in the driveway in a black older-model Camaro.
They wound up beating Ms. Berg, who tried to fight them off. Police said the trio took a number of items from the home after tying up the couple. Some of the items have been recovered in Blount County.
