Jean Thomas Eldridge, 83, of Spring City, Tennessee, died on Monday, March 15, 2010.
She was born in Copperhill, Tn., and was a former resident of the Rossville area for several years. She had resided for the past 57 years in Spring City, where she was a homemaker and housewife.
She was a member of Spring City United Methodist Church in Spring City. She was also a member of the “Loyalty” Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Simpson Thomas and Vallie Mae Byres Thomas Unklesbay, and a brother, Floyd E. Thomas.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ray Eldridge of Spring City; daughter and son-in-law, Lois and Terry Rhea of Spring City; sons and daughters-in-law, Reverend John and Joan Eldridge of Fort Oglethorpe, Reverend Lonnie and Connie Eldridge of Spring City; a sister, Adas Bivens of Cohutta, Ga.; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Vaughn Funeral Home in Spring City, on Wednesday, March 17, from 5-9 p.m., and Thursday morning prior to the service.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 18, at 2 p.m. at the Spring City United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Eldridge’s body will lie in state one hour at the church prior to her funeral.
The Reverends Dale Wyrick and Dickie Johnson will be officiating. Burial will follow in Spring City Memorial Gardens, Spring City.
