Nicole Johnson Headlines Relay For Life Event April 6

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

The Relay For Life of Bradley County will host the 2010 Cancer Survivor Event on Tuesday, April 6, at Lee University Conn Center. Entertainment will be provided by Grace Community Church of God. Headlining the event will be Nicole Johnson, best selling author, performer, motivational speaker, T.V. host, producer and comedian.

Ms. Johnson’s website, www.freshbrewedlife.com, gives women Hope For The Daily Grind. Over three million women across America have seen Ms. Johnson’s live portrayals of the challenges facing today’s mega-multi-tasking woman.

During Ms. Johnson’s performances she often takes on different personas, such as Tammie Jean, who dishes out southern-fried wisdom, to Kathy, who suddenly finds herself in the ring with the heavy weight champion of the world, Cancer. Ms. Johnson’s original characters come to life in sketches full of comedy and poignancy that encourage and inspire women everywhere.

Like many women across America and around the world, Ms. Johnson has faced spirit-crushing challenges in her life: the divorce of her parents, childhood loneliness, and a difficult marriage that ended in a painful divorce. In the midst of these trials, Ms. Johnson gathered together the pieces of her pain and formulated a life-changing philosophy: Life’s greatest value can be found in these broken pieces in that, like the grinding of coffee beans, only when the individual pieces are crushed can they come together to create something far more wonderful and potent than any of the pieces could alone.

Fueled by her passion to communicate, Ms. Johnson uses her many gifts to express her Fresh Brewed Life philosophy. She performs original shows in front of a half-million women every year as part of the nation’s largest women’s conference. In addition, Ms. Johnson is a successful author, currently writing her seventh book.

Her best-selling debut, Fresh Brewed Life, is one of Ms. Johnson’s many works that convey her unique understanding of the trials of women. Her latest release, The Invisible Woman, continues to provide encouragement to hard-working women who feel unseen in their everyday lives.

When not on tour, Ms. Johnson makes her home in Santa Monica, Ca., with her husband and brand new puppy. She enjoys writing at a local coffee shop, dining with friends and walking on the beach.

“We live in a world of great beauty and enormous pain," said Ms. Johnson. "I like to write about the strange way they come together on the shores of hope.”

Tickets are on sale now at Bank of Cleveland’s main office on the courthouse square. Individual tickets may be purchased for $10 each. Tickets are free for cancer survivors. Seating is reserved. For more information, call 478-5656.

Thoughts On The Mathews Sentencing

It is not by coincidence I haven’t submitted an opinion piece in some time to the Chattanoogan.  The topics I cover are generally vitriolic in regards to local political decisions and their makers regarding public safety and I do not wish to associate my name with more noble subjects such as that of the heroic death and cowardly murder of Chattanooga Police Sergeant Tim Chapin, ... A Good School Takes Involvement - And Response

As I have read the articles concerning Normal Park School I can’t keep from thinking when our children started to school in the 1960‘s. The two elementary schools in the city that were considered tops were Barger and Woodmore. We did not live in the zone for either school so we looked for a house to buy that was zoned for Woodmore.   We found ... (click for more)
