City officials are planning a crackdown on those owing money to the city, City Councilman Peter Murphy said Tuesday night.
Councilman Murphy, an attorney who is chairman of the council's legal and legislative committee, did not give any details.
He said it will be announced soon.
Daisy Madison, city finance director, said the money-strapped city has already instructed its credit agency to begin taking legal action against those who owe the city sizable amounts.
She said the agency is in the process of checking whether those the city may go after have collectible assets.
Officials said earlier that some $9 million in parking fees are uncollected.
