Urban Rocks Gym Hosts Chattanooga’s First Youth Sport Climbing Competition

On March 27t, 2010, Urban Rocks Gym will be hosting the first Youth Sport Climbing Series Competition held in Chattanooga, TN. The Sport Climbing Series (SCS) is the national climbing competition circuit for indoor sport climbing. The SCS and USA Climbing (USAC) chose Urban Rocks Gym to be one of three gyms in the region to host a 2010 SCS event.

The competition is open to climbers ages 19 and under and all ability levels can participate. This competition is a unique opportunity, as competitors will be climbing alongside the region’s best youth climbers.

Pre-registration for the competition is $35 and includes a T-shirt. Pre-registration runs through Wednesday, March 24th. The entry fee after the 24th is $40 per competitor and spectators will be allowed in for free. On the day of the competition, check in and registration will run from 8:30 – 9:45am. The main competition runs from 10am – 1pm. Speed climbing will run until 2pm and food, awards and raffles will start at 3pm with a wrap up at 4pm.

“This comp will be unique in the sense that it will be the first nationally recognized indoor sport climbing competition in the city. It will bring in up to 90 youth competitors as well as their families from around the region,” says Urban Rocks co-owner Chris Gibson.


Ultralight-Led Whooping Cranes Released At Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge

Man Tells Police He Just Murdered His Wife

An Chattanooga man told police Monday night that he had just murdered his wife.  Police said Robert Lee Hardnett, 50. showed up at the County Jail to turn himself in at 8:40 p.m. He said his wife's body could be found at his place of employment, Power Supply Company, 1907 Daisy St.   Officers responded to that address and found the body of 34-year-old Elizabeth ... Red Bank Commissioners Choose Kenneth Welch To Replace Greg Jones; Jeno Won't Run Again

The four remaining members of the Red Bank Commission held a special called meeting on Tuesday and chose Kenneth Welch as the replacement for Vice Mayor Greg Jones, who moved to Alaska. Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt.
