Ooltewah topped McCallie, 15-2, and Farragut defeated Baylor, 7-1, on the opening day of the Scenic City Baseball Classic at McCallie Thursday.

Andrew Mayfield and Brady Reed paced the victorious Owls (2-1) with thee hits and four RBIs each.
Teammates Dustin Fairbanks (2-of-4, 3 RBIs), Zach Zarzour (2 hits, 3 runs) and Bryn Oliver (2-of-3, HR, 3 runs), also added to the Ooltewah offense.
"We were focused from the first pitch and it showed that we were mentally ready to play,'' said Owls coach Brian Hitchcox.
The Owls scored twice in the top of the first inning on one-out, back-to-back doubles by Zach Zarzour and Mayfield and a sacrifice fly by Read and Ooltewah never looked back.
The visitors posted a four-run second, highlighted by leadoff home run by Oliver and a two-run single by Mayfield.
"The trademark of this team will be how consistant you can be,'' Hitchcox told his players in a post-game meeting.
Starting Owl pitcher Quade Campbell earned his first win of the season as he worked five innings, allowing four hits and one earned run, while striking out four McCallie batters.
McCallie was led by George Harrison who had a second inning home run and Kade McGlohon was 2-for-3.
Starter Trent Lusk (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing six runs (three earned) and five hits.

The nation’s No.4 team was led offensively by David Allen (3 hits, 2 runs) and Tyler Noland (home run, 2 RBIs, 2 runs).
Williams, who recently recovered from mononucleosis, started fast, striking out four of the first six batters he faced, throwing only 18 pitches in the first two innings.
“Nick was throwing 92, 93 miles an hour in the first inning which isn’t bad for someone just coming off mono,’’ said Farragut first year coach Matt Buckner.
While Williams was silencing the Red Raider bats, the Farragut offense put six runs on the board in the first three innings.
Bennett had a two-run single in the first, while Noland contributed with a two-run home run to left in the third.
Williams had a no-hitter into the sixth until Will Cooper’s two-out double drove in Robby Brown who had led off the inning with a walk, his second of the night.
"I felt good through four innings, but tired somewhat in the sixth,'' said Williams. "But, overall I thought I pitched well and threw hard.''

Four Generations: Ooltewah senior Zach Zarzour is a fourth generation baseball player ... His dad, Louis, played at Ooltewah 30 years ago … Chattanooga hall of famer Abe Zarzour, played semi pro baseball with Zach’s great grandfather, Lou …Abe later founded the Abe Zarzour Baseball School and was known for donating baseball equipment to underprivileged kids ... Prior to playing for Ooltewah, Louis played on a 14-year-old Dizzy Dean World Series championship team.
Text Book Defense: Farragut’s Ethan Bennett looked to stretch a first inning one-out, two-run single to left into a double ... but, the Baylor defense had other plans on a sharp relay – 7-6-4 – Jacob Sosna-Will Cooper-Adam Shuford for the out ... Sosna also cut down Xander Taylor in the home half of the sixth as Taylor attempted to stretch a leadoff single to left into a double.
More Baylor ‘’D’’: Baylor used a 1-5-6 (Josh Ernest-John Tipton-Will Cooper) play to pick off the Admiral’s Nicky Delmonico in the third inning.
One of a Kind Strikeout: In the Ooltewah fifth, McCallie pitcher Brian Viscomi struck out the Owls’ Tyler Baker, but the ball bounced away from Tornado catcher Nolan Woody allowing Baker to run to first base … Woody then threw the ball over the head of first baseman David Dewhirst into right field … Baker continued to second and attempted to stretch the play into a three base error … but a good relay – 9-4-1 (George Harrison-Parker Nicholson-Viscomi) – resulted in Viscomi tagging out Baker for the first out … Viscomi was credited with a strikeout and putout on the same play.
