The Primitive Streak. By Hunter Rodgers (Dayton, Tn.). Grand Prize Winner of the Biennial Festival of New Plays. World Premier. Directed by Hope Alexander.
The Primitive Streak centers on an angry young man who's just lost his mother, a crooked state senator running for re-election, an odd pair of star-crossed lovers, a wise and lively prostitute and a ruthless business woman out for all she can get. This strange assortment of characters all find themselves thrown together in a bordello. Who will come out clean in this dramedy?
Sunday in the South by Dakota Brown (Ooltewah). Runner- up. Featured in a reading directed by Stephanie Smith in the CTC Studio.
Simeon is lost. The short time it took to mourn the loss of his mother has passed and he can't seem to find Hope. The town of Hope; an aunt he has never met has shown up at the funeral and invited him there. He soon discovers that there is turmoil in Hope. A religious war is taking place against his one friend in the town, his one solace who goes by the name Harmony. In a decision that splits Harmony and Hope, Simeon uncovers a story of seeking love and redemption in the simplest of places.
The Fortunes of Warren by Lee Wright (Rossville). Runner- up. Featured in a reading in the CTC Studio. Directed by Josh Ruben.
Madame Thalia is a fortune teller, mystic and small-time con-artist in New Orleans. When she meets Warren Byrd, an unbelievably naive woman on a seemingly impossible mission to collect an inheritance, Thalia has visions of easy money. But even the talented Madame Thalia can't predict the startling secrets that Warren will expose.
Life Without Tom by Logan Lee (Chattanooga). Runner- up. Featured in a reading in the CTC Studio. Directed by George Quick.
Tom is having a bad day. His love life is in shambles, he has a dead-end job at the morgue, and to top it all off, he decides to commit suicide...and nobody even bothers to show up. Pig Farm by Greg Kotis
On a struggling pig farm somewhere in America, Tom and Tina (with the help of Tim, their hired hand) fight to hold onto everything they own —namely, a herd of fifteen thousand restless pigs. Dumping sludge into the river has driven Tom to drink, and Tim seems to have caught Tina’s eye, but when Teddy, a gun-toting officer of the EPA arrives to inspect the operation, life on the farm explodes, implodes, then explodes again. Not literally, of course, but... you get the idea. By Greg Kotis, who gave us Urinetown. Directed by Scott Dunlap.

The Book of Liz by The Talent Family: David Sedaris and Amy Sedaris
Sister Elizabeth Donderstock is Squeamish, has been her whole life. She makes cheese balls that sustain the existence of her entire religious community, Clusterhaven. Feeling unappreciated, she tries her luck in the outside world. Along the way, she meets an immigrant couple who find her a job waiting tables at Plymouth Crock, a family restaurant run almost entirely by recovering alcoholics. The alcoholics love her. The customers love her. Her Danderfrock fits right in. Things are going great for Liz, until she’s offered a promotion to manager. Liz has a sweating problem, and to get the job, she’ll have to fix it. Back at Clusterhaven, Liz’s compatriots can’t seem to duplicate her cheese ball recipe, and it’s going to cost them their quaint, cloistered lifestyle. Panic-stricken and desperate, they’re sure she sabotaged the recipe. Can the Squeamish be saved? Will the cheese balls ever taste good again? The answers to these questions can be found in the new comedy from the Talent Family, David and Amy Sedaris. Directed by Lebron Benton.
