River Gorge Trust Hosts Green Tie Affair

Join the Tennessee River Gorge Trust for its largest event of the year. ‘Green Tie Affair’ will take place at the beautiful Ashland Farms on Saturday, May 1, 2010. Located just minutes from downtown Chattanooga, guests will enjoy delicious local food provided by 212 Market, an open bar and live music provided by Kathy Tugman & the Dave Walters Trio.

If you’re thinking “Green Tie” sounds somewhat formal, you’re way off! This event is tailored to be decidedly casual and definitely fun! Wear or bring something green, grab your friends and come enjoy delicious appetizers, dancing, and a GORGEous evening as you stroll through the beautiful gardens set to be in full bloom. The GREEN factor of this event is your participation which helps protect Tennessee’s Grand Canyon for future generations!

‘Green Tie Affair’ will begin at 5:00 p.m. and end by sunset. The evening will also include the presentation of TRGT’s 2010 Adele Hampton Life Achievement Award for Conservation to Mr. Hale Booth. This award is given in appreciation to those individuals who, in the spirit of the Founders of the Tennessee River Gorge Trust, have worked to preserve and protect the Tennessee River Gorge for the benefit of our community and generations to come. Mr. Booth will be the 15th recipient of the Founder’s Award.

Cost for the event is $150 per person. Reserved tables for six may be purchased for $1,500. All proceeds from ‘Green Tie Affair’ will benefit the Trust's 2010 initiatives.

Ultralight-Led Whooping Cranes Released At Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge

The nine whooping cranes led by ultralight aircraft have been released from a holding pen at Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge after Whooping Crane Eastern Partnership biologists attached marking bands and transmitters to help track their movements. “So far the cranes are foraging and hanging around close to the pen and moving into the flooded fields,” said Bill Gates, biologist ... Man Tells Police He Just Murdered His Wife

An Chattanooga man told police Monday night that he had just murdered his wife.  Police said Robert Lee Hardnett, 50. showed up at the County Jail to turn himself in at 8:40 p.m. He said his wife's body could be found at his place of employment, Power Supply Company, 1907 Daisy St.   Officers responded to that address and found the body of 34-year-old Elizabeth ... Red Bank Commissioners Choose Kenneth Welch To Replace Greg Jones; Jeno Won't Run Again

The four remaining members of the Red Bank Commission held a special called meeting on Tuesday and chose Kenneth Welch as the replacement for Vice Mayor Greg Jones, who moved to Alaska. I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt.
