Work is set to begin soon on two new downtown hotels, members of the City Council were told.
It was announced earlier that a new Hampton Inn and Suites would be built at Fourth and Chestnut streets at the site of the former Regional History Museum.
Public works officials said another new hotel will be just down the street.
Dennis Malone said a Holiday Inn Express is planned at Fifth and Chestnut.
There is another Holiday Inn Express on W. 9th Street in the Golden Gateway area.
The new $19 million Hampton Inn and Suites by Vision Hospitality will have six floors and 140 rooms.
Also planned at the Fourth and Chestnut site are a two-level, parking garage with 170 spaces as well as a two-story building with 15,000 square feet of space. It will have retail on the first floor and offices on the second and it will face Broad Street.
Officials said hotels near the bustling riverfront have done well and are often sold out.
