Assistant coach Shannon Williams has been promoted to head football coach at Ooltewah High School.
The 33-year-old Williams in a 1998 graduate of the University of Alabama.
Williams had been serving on the staff of Benny Monroe, who announced his retirement recently. In five years as the Owls' coach, Monroe was 48-12.
In 2008, Williams came to Ooltewah and has been serving as the offensive line coch. He will continue in that role as head coach.
Williams previously worked as offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator at Arkansas-Monticello and also worked at UTC under head coach Rodney Allison. He earned a masters in education while at UTC.
