Central's Tedarrell Poole and Daniel White signed college football grants-in-aid on Friday morning.

Poole signed with Tuskeegee University, the reigning Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champion in NCAA Division II.

White signed to play for NAIA school Bethel College in McKenzie, Tenn.

They make six seniors siging college scholarships off last year's state playoff team.

Poole, 6-2, 258, played offensive and defensive line for the Pounders.

"I expect him to be on the offensive side of the ball in college,'' Central coach David Barger said. "He started on the offensive and defensive lines for us for two years.

"He's a good kid from a good family and we really expect him to do well in college.''

White, 6-2, 210, was Mr. Versatility for the Pounders.

"He was our utility player,'' Barger said. "He played guard, quarterback, defensive end, linebacker and sometimes was our long snapper.

"I feel like he'll play either tight end or defensive end in college. And like Tedarrell, he's a really good kid who we expect to do well.''

Thoughts On The Mathews Sentencing

It is not by coincidence I haven’t submitted an opinion piece in some time to the Chattanoogan.  The topics I cover are generally vitriolic in regards to local political decisions and their makers regarding public safety and I do not wish to associate my name with more noble subjects such as that of the heroic death and cowardly murder of Chattanooga Police Sergeant Tim Chapin, ... Thank You, Judge Mattice And Chattanooga

I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt. Chapin would have wanted.  He was a protector and sacrificed his life so the rest of ... (click for more)
