Mildred Long Dorsey, 92, died on Friday, March 19, 2010 in a local medical facility.

A native of Chattanooga, she was the only child of Ben and Mabel Long, who lived in North Chattanooga throughout their married life. Mildred graduated from City High School and attended Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tn.

Since her mother was employed by Southern Bell Telephone Company, Mildred spent each summer and many weekends with her grandparents in Whiteside, Tn.

She joined the Whiteside Methodist Church when she was 12 and remained an active Methodist throughout her lifetime. During her membership with Forest Avenue United Methodist Church, she was a member of United Methodist Women and the Finance Committee. At the time of her death, she was a member of First Centenary United Methodist Church.

Mildred was employed in the office of the Home Stores and the Chattanooga Free Press before joining Southern Bell Telephone Company in Chattanooga. In 1940, she transferred to AT&T in Atlanta. Later, she moved to the New York office of AT&T as a trainer. Upon retirement, Mildred returned to Chattanooga.

In 1983, she was married to Thad Dorsey and they had the privilege of traveling to many countries before his death in 1991. In 1995 she, along with many other members of her church, moved into the newly-opened apartments at Asbury Center and remained there as it became Alexian Grove.

Mildred was predeceased by her husband and her parents.

She is survived by several cousins and by her beloved care giver, Judy Jones.

A funeral service will be held in the Kate Lyle West Chapel of First Centenary United Methodist Church on Wednesday, March 24, at 2 p.m. with Rev. David Harr officiating.

Visitation will be one hour before the service in the narthex of the Church. Interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the television ministry or the building program of First Centenary Church, 419 McCallie Avenue, Chattanooga, Tn. 37402.

Arrangements are by the Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, North Chapel, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tn. 37343.

Nancy Martin Garrett, 73, died on February 9, 2012.   Survivors include her daughter, Felicia Harrisonl; sons, Anthony, Jeff and Larry; siblings, Edward Martin and Shirley Martin; other relatives and friends.   Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, in the funeral home chapel. Albert C. Kiser, 102, of Chattanooga, died on Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, surrounded by family.   He was born on Dec. 27, 1909, in Somerset, Ky. to the late Albert and Ethel Kiser.   He retired from TVA after 35 years, was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church for 63 years and member of the Fellowship Class. Kinser, Waldo Oran (Chatsworth)

Waldo Oran Kinser, 58, of Chatsworth, Ga., died Sunday, February 12, 2012 at his residence. Waldo was born May 12, 1953 in Ellijay, Ga., a son of the late Wilbur Oran and Texxie Dotson Kinser; and was also preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Kinser; and sister, Debbie Kinser. Man Tells Police He Just Murdered His Wife
