The spring season rolls on as the UUC women’s golf team heads to suburban Atlanta for the John Kirk/Panther Intercollegiate at Eagle’s Landing Country Club in Stockbridge, Ga. Chattanooga looks to regroup from an eighth-place finish in Florida last week.
Junior Emma de Groot continues to pace the Mocs. She has three top five finishes in her last four events and is averaging 72.83 strokes per round in two spring outings with 16 of her 41 birdies on the season coming in those events playing 90 of the 108 holes at par or better (83.
3%).
Sophomore Maria Juliana Loza had a breakout in her last event. After opening with an 80 (+8), Maju fired a career-best three-under par 69 in round two ending up tied for seventh for the event.
Loza and de Groot provided a potent combination in round two of the JUM/Eagle Landing Invitational last week combining to shoot five-under par. The duo had seven birdies, 27 pars and just two bogeys between them on the day.
WHO: Katie Taylor. The senior started every tournament in 2007-08 and is back in the lineup for the Mocs. She won the Dayle May Award this year as the senior student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA.
