Goodbye, Comcast - And Response

Saturday, March 20, 2010

Goodbye, Comcast. You smugly shoved your poor service on me due to your status as a monopoly for decades but that has ended. EPB Fiber became available in my neighborhood recently, and I signed up with them immediately.

Only when I returned my equipment to your office in Hixson did you make a lame attempt to keep me as a customer by offering me a free month not to switch. I had the equipment in hand and EPB service was already up and running at my home; it was well past too late.

I noticed you are changing your name to Xfinity. Did you do that because you are trying to shed the "Comcrap" moniker most of your customers use when referring to you?

All that money you spent trying to stop EPB from bringing fiber service to the area came out of our pockets. If you had spent that money on better customer service, infrastructure, and better content before EPB Fiber came to town you might not be seeing the customer exodus you are experiencing today.

Yes, I know a couple of Comcast IT guys, and I know you are rapidly losing customers to EPB. Well, you arrogantly made the wrong choices, and now your arrogance is catching up with you.

I would not trade my Comcast and the "On Demand" feature for all the satellite dishes in the world. On Demand revolutionizes the TV experience as well as putting programming at your fingertips. Now I can watch programs I normally would miss or fall asleep in the middle of airing. It is like having a Blockbuster Store, only better, at your own home. For me, it is a bit pricey but worth it. And for what it is worth, the few times I have had problems, the techs on the phone can normally fix the issue immediately. What an amazing technology.

In his time as commissioner he has only added ... (click for more)

Play The Emission Game

I signed the petition but have a suggestion that may make a bigger impact.  Since it is a cash only business, pay with change and request they count it to keep you both honest. This gives a taste of your frustration and could imply that we as citizens want change also.  This could be very effective when they are busy. There are many ways to send a message but the ...
