UTC’s Wes Moore Speaks At Orange Grove Breakfast For Champions

Tuesday, March 23, 2010

Orange Grove will host the annual Breakfast for Champions on Friday, April 30, at 7:30 a.m. in the Center’s cafeteria. UTC Lady Mocs head coach, Wes Moore, is this year's speaker.

Coach Moore, who is the fifth winningest coach in the nation, has one of the most impressive career records. His repertoire includes having the most wins of any coach in UTC history, and leading his team to several Southern Conference Championship appearances.

In addition, Coach Moore and the Lady Mocs recently marked their 11th championship win.

Longtime volunteers and founding board members, Thomas A. Caldwell Jr. and Charles Comer, will also be honored for their years of service.

Mr. Caldwell recently retired from his position as an attorney with Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell and Berkowitz, P.C. Mr. Comer, also a former banker, worked for many years to promote the center. For more than 50 consecutive years, he portrayed Santa Claus for individuals at the center.

In previous years, speakers have included former coaches Gene Stallings (Alabama), Phil Fulmer and Johnny Majors (UT Vols), and Rodney Allison (UTC); current coaches, John Shulman (UTC) and Bruce Pearl (UT Vols); and football greats, Steve Sloan, Lindsey Nelson, and Mike Keith, the voice of the Tennessee Titans.

Breakfast for Champions is a free event, and is by invitation only. In its 21 year history, it is conducted annually to recognize the supporters and contributors of Orange Grove.

To learn more about the breakfast, or for information as to how to be included on the invitation list, call 308-1160 or email pr@orangegrove.org.

Who's Driving The Bessie Smith Strut Into The Ground?

That one thing is the Bessie Smith Strut and the lack of what it used to be. It is just my opinion but there seems to be a driving force of setting the event up for failure and for what?    The event survived a ... (click for more)
