Annual Log Cabin Days In Pikeville Set For May 22-23

The 5th Annual Log Cabin Days Arts and Craft Fair, sponsored by Artist Hands of Sequatchie Territory, will be held two miles north of Pikeville, on U.S. Highway 127 at McBay’s Log Cabin Village on Saturday, May 22, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday, May 23, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST.

Admission and parking are free.

There will be family fun in the Sequatchie Valley held in and around restored log cabins.

Entertainers to date are: Tony Thomas (The Appalachian Troubadour), Megan Davis (singer, songwriter), The Possum Hunters (bluegrass), The Fredonia Five (bluegrass), Lon Eldridge (delta blues, bluegrass, gospel, ragtime), Agene Parsons (hammered dulcimer), Judy Baker and Sylvia Idom (storytellers), The Cox Family (bluegrass), Tammy Basham (singer), Jim Ricketts (smoky mountain gospel), New Paved Road (gospel), Savannah Roberts (country, modern) and the Porch Pickers.

Activities include: Civil War re-enactors; antique tractor and quilt display; heritage living skills; master gardeners; children’s train rides; log cabin period costume contest, among others.

All arts and crafts are handmade with live demos by artists; including free Kids Korner-make-it-and-take-it; cornhusk dolls; limber-jacks; “shave horses;” drop-spindle; leather tooling; herbs; tin-punch; basket weaving; wool spinning; antique toys; fly-tying and casting; woodcraft and carving; candlemaking; jewelry; gourd art; soapmaking; flute-maker; wooden trunks; photography; fabric / felt art; oils / watercolor/ acrylic; purses; dolls; birdhouses; scroll saw art; barnwood and cedar furniture; silhouettes; tole painting; mosaics; mailboxes, arbors, swings, and much more.

Man Tells Police He Just Murdered His Wife

An Chattanooga man told police Monday night that he had just murdered his wife.  Police said Robert Lee Hardnett, 50. showed up at the County Jail to turn himself in at 8:40 p.m. He said his wife's body could be found at his place of employment, Power Supply Company, 1907 Daisy St.   Officers responded to that address and found the body of 34-year-old Elizabeth ... Red Bank Commissioners Choose Kenneth Welch To Replace Greg Jones; Jeno Won't Run Again

The four remaining members of the Red Bank Commission held a special called meeting on Tuesday and chose Kenneth Welch as the replacement for Vice Mayor Greg Jones, who moved to Alaska. I would like to thank Judge Mattice for handing down a 30.5 year sentence for Kathleen Mathews.  Obviously, no amount of jail time, fines, or lashings can bring back Tim Chapin.   A 30-year sentence will, however, make the world just a little safer.  That's what Sgt.
