A group of motorcyclists will arrive in Red Bank for a first ever workshop and clinic on Saturday. The group will meet at the newly remodeled Community Center in Red Bank. The group will meet there at the invitation of Red Bank Mayor Joe Glasscock.
“We are always interested in the promotion of safety whether it be vehicular, pedestrian or on a bicycle,” said Mayor Glasscock.
“Our role in every race event is crucial, but we prefer to be invisible to the spectators,” said Harry Stone the team leader of the group known by their web site name ThePurpleWing.
com. “The racers are what everyone comes to see and we are there to make the races safe, fun, and fair for all of them."
The group works over 20 races every season performing tasks under the authority of the race’s director. From providing lead motorcycles, to being the transportation for the race officials who referee the event, to being a platform for media, all from the back seat of motorcycles, the team provides the crew of ThePurpleWing.com to cover all motorcycle needs of each race.
“We were certainly happy to have been asked to have the clinic in Red Bank. Both Mayor Glasscock and the city of Red Bank were fabulous to work with,” said Mr. Stone.
The largest event the of the team’s season is the Chattanooga Waterfront Triathlon to be held July 11 with a large portion of the bicycle leg traveling through the city of Red Bank. The Chattanooga Waterfront Triathlon was voted "Best Triathlon" by Competitor Magazine’s 2009 Best of Competitor: Southeast Region.
“The Chattanooga Waterfront Triathlon brings thousands of visitors to the Chattanooga area and Red Bank is proud to be a small part of it. We would like to thank all the participants and supporters for the economic impact it has on the area," said Mayor Glasscock.

The clinic will focus on the role the motorcycles play within the races. It will bring together a group of invited triathletes to help the motor squad better understand the mindset and passion for the sport the racers have.

Team Magic is the race management group that produces the Chattanooga Waterfront Triathlon, Nashville’s Music City Triathlon, and the Power Man Duathlon held near Birmingham along with nine others, annually. The team is entering their sixth season as the primary moto squad. They also provide motorcycle support for the Sports Barn Sprint and the River Gorge Road Race both held in Chattanooga.
