The Tennessee Valley Authority will hold an informational public meeting on Tuesday, March 16, in Kingston to receive comments on changing the handling and storage of wet coal ash to a dry system at the Kingston Fossil Plant.
TVA announced in July that it would change all of its wet coal combustion byproduct impoundments to dry, and Kingston is the first plant changing its systems. The meeting will be held from 5:30-8 p.m. EDT in the cafeteria of the Roane County High School, 540 West Cumberland St.
TVA representatives will have stations set up to discuss information on air, water, solid waste, transportation and project management.
The draft Environmental Assessment reviews the environmental impacts of changing from a wet to dry system at the plant. The draft Environmental Assessment can be viewed online at www.tva.com/environment/reports/. Comments can be made at the meeting or through the web site through April 4.
