4 Stores Fail, 11 Pass Underage Buyer Compliance Check

The Chattanooga Police Department Regulatory Bureau and the Hamilton County Anti-Drug Coalition conducted a series of compliance checks at several area convenience stores Friday night.

Police sent an 18-year-old buyer into 15 stores where she attempted to buy beer. Eleven stores passed the check and refused the sale. Four stores failed the check and will be cited to the beer board at a later date.

The stores that passed the check are:

Kangaroo, 3740 Tennessee Ave.
Kamboi’s, 4901 Bonny Oaks Dr.
Mr. Zip, 6526 Bonny Oaks Dr.
Mapco, 7401 Lee Highway
Rossville Blvd Convenience and Gas, 4510 Rossville Blvd.
Star Discount Tobacco, 115 Browns Ferry Road
Sunset Market #8, 541 Browns Ferry Road
Tobacco King, 4736 Highway 58
Tobacco Mart, 4850 Highway 58

The four stores that sold to the underage buyer are:

J.T. McDaniel’s Food Mart and Deli, 108 West 38th Street
Kanku’s #5, 702 Central Ave.
Kanku’s Express, 2115 Dodds Ave.
United Food and Gas, 2304 Shallowford Village Dr.


Hamilton County Woman Charged With TennCare Drug Fraud

A Hamilton County woman has been charged with trying to use the state’s public healthcare insurance program to pay for a forged prescription.
