The opera will be fully-staged and costumed, sung in English, and accompanied by the UTC Orchestra under Maestro Jooyung Ahn. Stage direction is by Associate Professor Ron Ulen.

It will be performed at Roland Hayes Concert Hall in the UTC Fine Arts Center (corner of Palmetto and Vine), and admission will be free for UTC students, $10 for adults and non-UTC students, and $7 for senior citizens. To reserve tickets, please call the UTC box office at 423 425-4269.

W.A. Mozart's Opera, Cosi Fan Tutte, is a delightful comedy of errors. Six characters blunder through two acts of disguised and mistaken identity while trying to discover the answer to the ultimate question: Are women faithful or not?

The UTC Opera Theater is an auditioned group of highly talented students who perform a variety of scenes from multiple operas, sets of arias and ensembles, multiple one-act operas, and full-length masterworks.

Recent productions have included Jonathan Bailey Holland's Naomi in the Living Room and the Zarzuela La Verbena de la Paloma in Fall 2008, Johann Strauss' Die Fledermaus in spring 2009, and Samuel Barber’s A Hand of Bridge, Seymour Barab’s A Game of Chance, and Charlisle Floyd’s Slow Dusk as a series of three American operas in Fall 2009.

Director Ronald Ulen, has recently returned to the U.S. to take on his new responsibilities as director of Opera and professor of Voice at UTC after spending the past 20 years in Europe. Mr. Ulen is an active and versatile performer who feels equally at home on the opera, concert, or recital stage.

He has performed over 85 roles in nearly 2000 performances. His career has taken him to opera stages and concert halls around the world, including those of Vienna, Rome, London, Bamberg, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, New York, Munich, Tokyo, Paris, and Berlin. Orchestra director, Jooyung Ahn, is a citizen of the United States and native of Seoul, South Korea.

He has performed with major orchestras as well as conducted around the world at many notable music venues. He presently conducts the UTC and Cadek Community Orchestras, and he is also an instructor for instrumental conducting at UTC.

Thoughts On The Mathews Sentencing

It is not by coincidence I haven’t submitted an opinion piece in some time to the Chattanoogan.  The topics I cover are generally vitriolic in regards to local political decisions and their makers regarding public safety and I do not wish to associate my name with more noble subjects such as that of the heroic death and cowardly murder of Chattanooga Police Sergeant Tim Chapin, ... We did not live in the zone for either school so we looked for a house to buy that was zoned for Woodmore.   We found ... (click for more)
