A 41-year-old who authorities say served alcohol to teens that resulted in a deadly crash has been taken into custody for 11 months and 29 days.
Trevor Guthrie appeared before Criminal Court Judge Rebecca Stern.
Ley Meredith Birmingham, who was 17 years old, had a fatal crash after going to a party at Guthrie's house. Her blood alcohol level was .18.
Her parents, Jim Birmingham and Stephanie Birmingham Babbitt, were among those in the courtroom.
A 17-year-old testified that a group had gone to numerous parties at Guthrie's house. The witness said Guthrie had a stockpile of alcohol and the house featured a stripper pole and a bar.
She said he always would hang out with very young people.
Guthrie's ex-wife said he was needed to care for his 11-year-old son.
Ms. Birmingham died Feb. 3, 2008, in a single-vehicle crash on East Brainerd Road. A passenger, Jonathan P. Crow, 18, also of East Ridge, was airlifted to Erlanger.
The wreck was in the 9800 block of East Brainerd Road. The car went out of control and struck a power pole.
