Support The Lady Mocs - And Response

Tuesday, March 09, 2010

Congrats to the Lady Mocs,,making it to "The Dance," the NCAA Women's Tournament. I wish more people would support them during the season. After all, they are Chattanooga's team and have had tremendous success under Wes Moore. The Lady Mocs led the Southern Conference in attendance, with just over 2,000 people per game, but we need more support than that. Reach out and support these awesome women.

Hurray for our Lady Mocs. In a "rebuilding" year they have provided the fans with lots of exciting entertainment and yet another championship.

They deserve every fan that fills a seat at home games and many more. I was fortunate to travel to three away games this year.

The Appy State game had a total attendance of 149. And that included UTC fans. Guess who was louder? At Georgia Southern, they had more fans, but we were louder. I found it interesting that the announcer was promoting a game at which they wanted to break their all-time attendance record of around 2,500. That's near our average.

Finally, at College of Charleston (one of our losses) we might have had more fans there had they not had a free day for the school system and 1,000 school kids piled in for a game in which their only interest were the various mascots handing out goodies and entertaining during timeouts.

We do well in our support for the Lady Mocs. However, we have a jewel here in Chattanooga. Our arena is the best venue (of the ones I've seen); we are extremely fortunate to the best coach in the league, not to mention one of the best in the country (not opinion, just record); our Lady Mocs play good, fundamental basketball at the highest level.

If more people would just try it, I think you would like it. There is no reason why we can't boost our average attendance to 4,000 - striking even more fear in our opponents. Come on out. It's the best ticket in town.
