I have been a Comcast customer for years. We have gone days without either Internet or cable TV. They were making repairs. Finally, we decided to split up the cable and the internet with two different companies. Thus, we would have one or the other.
I waited until the 2nd of February to discontinue my Comcast because that is the beginning of the billing cycle. Keep in mind, you pay a month in advance for these services.
I turned in my Comcast boxes to a very rude employee at the Ft. Oglethrope office. I was informed I would have to pay for the cable for a week or two more, until someone could get out here, at their convenience, of course, to remove the cable from a pole on the street. I told the lady I already had another service installed and running, and I didn't think it was fair to charge me additional for service I did not have.
On the 3rd of March I called Comcast and asked what my bill was. I was told in February I had a $66.00 credit. They figured out how much more I owed them, and I paid them. Keep in mind, all my phone calls were answered by very rude and hateful employees.
This month I received a bill for nearly $100 for internet only. I called and told them of the error and again was talked to in a horrible manner. I hung up and immediately called the phone company to have dial up installed and am leaving Comcast completely.
They did not give me my credit for the month of February, and the bill should have actually been a wash because it was paid in advance. So any Comcast customer who decides to leave Comcast, please keep in mind you have paid a month in advance. They owe you that but will not give you the credit.
I think it is a horrible thing when one company has a monopoly and treat people in the way I was treated dealing with Comcast.

My Comcast exit was very easy. Step one: Make appointment to have EPB Fiber service installed. Step two: Put all Comcast receivers and remotes in a box and hand it through the "teller" window at the Comcast office. Step 3: Ask for a receipt from the nice lady to whom I handed the box. Step 4: Receive my Comcast credit balance check in the mail and open it while watching TV on the EPBFI system. I never even had to speak to a Comcast phone rep in India.
