John Gibbon Webb Jr., 90, of Signal Mountain and Kensington, Ga., died on April 22, 2010 at Alexian Healthcare on his 67th anniversary.

He was born in Richmond, Va., to John and Mary Lebby Webb, graduated as a Chemical Engineer from Virginia Polytechnical Institute, served during WWII in the Navy on Guadalcanal as a Bomb Disposal Officer. He worked for Union Carbide for 37 years in the Industrial Carbon and Graphite Division.

After retiring, he joined the Senior Neighbors Orchestra to continue his love for playing his trumpet.

He was an elder emeritus at Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church as well as an “elder on loan” for Highlands Presbyterian in Lafayette. He was chairman and co-founder of the McLemore Cove Preservation Society for many years.

He and his wife raised four sons with love and respect for each one’s individuality and loved to spend time riding his tractor and/or lawn mower or fishing at his beloved “farm,” Still Hill and Waters, along with family and friends. He loved to tell stories, play his collection of jazz records and his trumpet.

He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Sweet Webb.

He is survived by his loving wife, Martha Sweet Webb; three sons, John (Fain) Webb III of Columbia, N.J., Daniel H. (Jane) Webb of Chattanooga and Tim F. (Dede) Webb of Signal Mountain; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Webb Horn of Fallston, Md., Philip Webb of Moscow, Russia, Aidan (Misty) Webb of Yarmouth, Maine, Matt Webb of Browns Mills, N.J., and Eleanor Webb (Tim) Wallis, Skye Webb and Dan Webb, all of Chattanooga; and two great-grandchildren, Sydney Webb and Jackson Webb.

A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 28, at Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church with Pastor Joe Novenson officiating and visitation at 9:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall.

Jack Wall, 82, of Rossville, died peacefully on Friday, February 3, 2012.  Mr. Wall was born January 31, 1930 and was the only child of the late Chester and Gertrude Wall. $750,000 Settlement Reached In Case In Which Bicyclist Was Hit By Tahoe
