Funding has been found to once again stage the July 4 Pops in the Pop concert at Coolidge Park, city officials said.
Dan Johnson of the mayor's staff said $40,000 that had been allotted for the former Downtown Partnership will be shifted to help keep the concert.
The Downtown Partnership, which had operated under the aegis of the RiverCity Company, was recently disbanded. It had staged events like Pops in the Park and Nightfall.
Mr. Johnson said Allied Arts will take over oversight of Pops in the Park.
He said it costs from $65,000-$70,000 for the event.
Mr. Johnson said the city made a $100,000 commitment to the Downtown Partnership in 2009 and $80,000 this year. He said the city stopped the funding immediately upon learning that it had been dissolved.
