Construction Under Way On East Hamilton Football Field

Thursday, June 24, 2010 - by special report to The Chattanoogan

Construction has started on the new football field at East Hamilton High School.

A spokesman for Coston General Contractors from Birmingham, Ala., said on Thursday that it normally takes around 20 days to get the field graded and sod in place.

"We're excited,'' East Hamilton High School footbal coach Ted Gatewood said. "I think we'll be ready. We're going to keep plugging away.''

The first home game for East Hamilton is Aug. 27 against Signal Mountain.

"Right now the push is on the lights,'' Gatewood said. "It's going to be tough, but that's the way it is.

"We'll bring in bleachers this year. We've got an option if the field isn't ready, but we're going to see what happens. We want to play at home.''
