The University of Tennessee Extension is offering a food preservation class to teach the basics techniques of safely canning and freezing food. The class will be repeated three times in two days.
Choose from one of these three classes: Wednesday, July 21, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Central Time at the South Pittsburg Senior Center on 315 Elm Ave. in South Pittsburg; Thursday, July 22, at Hamilton County Extension office on 6183 Adamson Circle in Chattanooga from 9:30-11:30 a.m.; or 6-8 p.m. Eastern Time.
The cost is $20 which includes reference books and other materials. Register by July 14 by mailing check or money order made to University of Tennessee Extension. Mail to UT Extension-Hamilton County at 6183 Adamson Circle, Chattanooga, TN 37416 or deliver cash from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Designate the location and date you will attend.

The class will include the basics of including jams and jellies, when to use a waterbath and a pressure canner, blanching, freezing, pickling and more.
