Veteran weatherman Neal Pascal is leaving WRCB-TV and will take a teaching position in Bradley County, the station announced on Tuesday.
He will be teaching eighth grade students at Lake Forest Middle School this fall.
He also plans to pursue a master of arts in teaching degree at Lee University.
Mr. Pascal said, "After speaking to students for years about the weather in classrooms, this will be a chance to broaden the subject of science. I intend to show them how learning science will help in their daily lives and careers. I thank Channel 3 for welcoming me into their family these past few years."
WRCB President and General Manager Tom Tolar said, "We support Neal in this next phase of his career. He has added a great deal of expertise to the Storm Alert Team in his time with us. We wish him the best."
The station has begun a nationwide search for a new weekend meteorologist.
Mr. Pascal was chief meteorologist at Channel 9 for many years prior to joining Channel 3.
