East Ridge Fire/Rescue and Police responded to 3139 Bimini Place on reports of a residential structure fire early Tuesday. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 1 a.m. to find heavy smoke and fire coming from an unoccupied a-frame building.
Firefighters quickly established an interior attack of the fire, successfully cutting the fire off preventing it from spreading further.
East Ridge Fire/Arson investigators responded to the scene to investigate the exact cause and origin of the fire. Investigators suspect that the fire may have started in some faulty electrical wiring. Damage is estimated at $15,000.
Units responding to the scene included East Ridge Squad 2, Engine 1, Engine 2, Quint 1, Support 1, Rescue 1, and Rescue 2. Fort Oglethorpe Engine 8 and Lifeguard EMS also responded on automatic aid.
