A construction worker died on Monday afternoon in a fall at some apartments under construction on Pineville Road.
Chattanooga Police have identified the fall victim as 31-year-old Jimy Henry Tovar of Acworth, Ga.
Based on information collected during the investigation, the victim was standing on a five-gallon bucket on the third floor of one of the apartment buildings while attempting to sand a portion of the ceiling just beyond his reach. The bucket slipped from under him, causing him to fall head first 30 feet to the floor below.
Mr. Tovar was taken to Erlanger Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The incident happened at 1174 Pineville Road, the construction site of the new Hayden Place Apartments.
The incident Is believed to be accidental. However, the official cause of death is pending the medical examiner’s report.
